Why is this important? Osteoporosis is a health risk to 44 million Americans and is responsible for 1.5 million fractures each year. With over 700,000 of these fractures occurring in the spine, vertebral compression fractures (VCFs) are the most common fracture caused by osteoporosis – yet most go undiagnosed. Left untreated, VCFs can result in kyphosis and associated consequences that dramatically impact a patient’s quality of life. |
